During April 18 and 19, the outstanding scientist Andreas Hoecker, Spokesperson of the
ATLAS experiment at CERN, visited Chile with the objective of strengthening the
scientific collaboration and sharing knowledge with Chilean undergraduate and graduate students of physics
in an inspiring talk and promoting further progress in research and
scientific collaboration in our country.
During his stay, Andreas Hoecker met with researchers from the prestigious Institute
SAPHIR and members of the Atlas Cluster in Chile, led by the researcher and academic of the
Catholic University, Francisca Garay, holding meetings that allowed the exchange of
ideas and strengthen ties between scientists, consolidating the country as a relevant actor in the
field of high energy physics.
In addition, Hoecker had the opportunity to share his experience and knowledge with undergraduate and graduate physics students
from Universidad Católica, Universidad Andrés Bello and Universidad
Federico Santa María. During a lecture, the scientist highlighted the importance of
research in particle physics and the progress being made in the ATLAS experiment,
one of the largest scientific projects worldwide. The students had the opportunity
to interact with Hoecker, ask questions and broaden their understanding of the current challenges
in the field of particle physics.
Undoubtedly, this type of exchange contributes to the development of the local scientific community and
encourages the active participation of Chilean researchers in projects of worldwide relevance
