During the morning of Friday, January 10, at the Casona campus of the Andrés Bello University, the National Director of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID), Alejandra Pizarro, accompanied by the Deputy Director of Associative Research Centers, Nicole Ehrenfeld, and a delegation from the agency, visited the institute's facilities to learn more about the center's work in particle physics and the development of products of a scientific-technological nature, whose main destination is the European Commission for Nuclear Energy, CERN.
The visit of ANID's Director to the Millennium Institute for Subatomic Physics at the High Energy Frontier (SAPHIR) represents a milestone of great relevance for our scientific community. This meeting strengthens the ties between our research center and the institution that has made our development possible thanks to its continuous funding. The presence of this authority not only evidences ANID's commitment to the advancement of science in Chile, but also validates the impact of our contributions to the field of particle physics nationally and internationally. It was a unique opportunity to show how our research contributes to global knowledge and how we promote the formation of advanced human capital.
In addition, this visit symbolizes government support for the development of basic science as a pillar of social and economic progress. The direct interaction with the Director of ANID allowed us to highlight our achievements, discuss future challenges and align our mission with the strategic priorities of the science and technology system in Chile. This support strengthens our ability to continue exploring the mysteries of the universe, train highly qualified researchers and contribute to Chile's consolidation as a relevant actor in scientific research.
Constant communication between the government institution funding a project and the project implementation team is essential to ensure the success of the initiative. This exchange allows for a clear alignment of objectives, transparency in the use of resources and early identification of potential challenges or additional needs. It also fosters a relationship of trust and collaboration, ensuring that the project remains within established standards and expectations. Smooth communication not only facilitates accountability, but also drives informed decision making and the development of effective solutions, maximizing the positive impact of the project on society.
