SAPHIR students were part of "Jóvenes ConCiencia 2024" (Youth with Science 2024)an instance in which Master's, Doctorate and Postdoctoral Research students were invited by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) to a day of reflection and collaborative work between centers and projects funded by the different programs that make up the institution.

Youth with Science is an instance of long standing, which began in the period when the Millennium Science Initiative belonged to the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, and later moved to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation. Over the years, this event has sought to generate associativity and links between the various scientific research centers that are under the ANID umbrella, all this through its young talents, such as Masters, PhD students and some Postdocs.

SAPHIR was represented by Mariel Poduje, Master's student in Physics at the Universidad Católica de Chile and mentee of our principal investigator, Giovanna Cottin, and Addles Castillo, PhD student in Physics at the Universidad Andrés Bello and mentee of our principal investigator, Jilberto Zamora.

"It was a friendly and enriching instance that addressed current issues, focusing mainly on the management and dissemination of information and data, which led me to reconsider my work and approach to this topic. In addition, it provided me with the necessary tools to create data in an orderly and easy-to-share manner," says Addles Castillo about his experience at Youth WithScience.

On the other hand, he says: "Science is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary, so to ensure its continued progress, it is necessary to provide easy access to data and information".

Addles adds: "I had the opportunity to interact with scientists from different areas and hear stories about their work. I was pleasantly surprised by the high level of knowledge and commitment that each one demonstrated in their specialty, which inspires me to continue growing as a professional".

"The highlight was that, when faced with the issues raised by the speakers, we all shared similar thoughts. This allowed that, beyond resolving doubts, a collaborative conversation was generated focused on a common goal: to ensure that scientific data is shared in an orderly, clear and easily accessible manner," Castillo concludes.
