Yury Ivanov

Assistant Researcher

Yury Ivanov is an academician at the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the Andrés Bello University. He graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University. From 1980, he worked at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, Russia) and obtained his PhD in physics and mathematics at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics of this institute.

Between 1999 and 2003, Ivanov worked at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITP) at the University of Heidelberg (Germany). In 2003, he specialised in network technologies and in 2004 he started working as a system administrator at JINR's LCG2 (part of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid project). Between 2007 and 2021 he worked as a researcher and system administrator at the data centre of the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María and the Centro Científico Tecnológico de Valparaíso (CCTVal). Since August 2021, he has been working as an academic at the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the Andrés Bello University.

His research interests are theoretical physics (particle and field theory, high-energy physics, particle physics phenomenology and Monte-Carlo simulations), computational mathematics (analytical and numerical methods), distributed computing networks.
