If you are interested in science, physics, engineering or if you are intrigued by studying a career in any of these areas, this is your chance!

Niñas Atómicas, returns recharged with a new workshop in which you will learn transversal skills such as research methodology, programming in Phyton and data analysis. All this in an environment where you will be able to meet other young women with the same interests as you and solve all your doubts with the support of our team.

This workshop will be led by Francisca Garay and Giovanna Cottin, alternate director and associate researcher of the Millennium Institute SAPHIR and academics from the Faculty of Physics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Who can apply?

Adolescent girls in first and second year, you do not need previous knowledge and you can apply from regions other than the Metropolitan Region. Your tutor can drop you off and pick you up at the two days we will detail below, although we will not have activities for parents during those days.

Workshop details and modality

The classes will be in hybrid format, that is, some classes will be online and others you will have to attend in person on Wednesday 26 and Thursday June 27, 2024, at the San Joaquin Campus of the UC (located in the commune of Macul - Metropolitan Region, San Joaquin subway station).

The days will be from Monday to Thursday, Fridays are free, in which you will have classes from 9.00 to 17.30 hrs. This applies to online and face-to-face days (we will give you all the details of the schedule, don't worry). During the days of face-to-face classes, you can be dropped off and picked up by a family member or tutor.

Benefits

Those selected will receive a financial scholarship to support the travel and accommodation expenses of the tutor and student. This amount will be informed once the application is finalized and will depend on the area or region of origin of the student. The estimated maximum amount of the scholarship is $300,000 (three hundred thousand pesos); this amount may vary depending on the availability of funds.

With your completed application you will be participating in the drawing for a Tablet, this announcement will be made at the end of the call for applications.

Results: the young women who are selected will be contacted via email and will have *48 hrs to confirm their application. This is necessary to manage the scholarships prior to the start of the workshop.

*If no response is received within the stipulated time, the team will contact the tutor by telephone. If no response is received, the organizers may allocate that place to another applicant.
